General Management Consultancy
I can lead or assist with a wide variety of General Management studies and/or offer advice, from Boards of Inquiry, the application of Lean techniques, International collaboration, to best use of modern training tools.
Project Management Consultancy
I can help you Scope, Plan and Manage any Project, Programme or Portfolio.
Team Management Consultancy
With many years of working within teams and leading them I can offer advice on best practice of managing large or small numbers of people.
Support Consultancy
Having had the responsibility for supporting all the complex warships of the Royal Navy, I can assist with Support Strategies, the development of Support Solutions and offer advice on contracting regimes.
Maintenance Consultancy
All support evolutions on a ship can be classified as either Planned maintenance, Corrective maintenance, Updates or Upgrades. I can advise on any of these and the processes needed to maximise the effectiveness of each.
Engineering Consultancy
I can lead or assist with studies/investigations into technical issues associated with most systems and equipment. With considerable experience working with propulsion and auxiliary systems, including High Voltage electrical power generation and distribution systems in ships, I can apply engineering principles to a wide variety of sea based problems.

John Newell MBE
BSC, MSc, CEng, FIMarEST
John worked for BAE Systems from October 2014 to December 2017 as Head of Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier Support after a career in the Royal Navy spanning 38 years. The job with BAE Systems was to design the support solution for the two ships in time for their arrival in Portsmouth and then support them through life.
Key sea appointments in the Royal Navy included Deputy Marine Engineer Officer (DMEO) in HMS SIRIUS, MEO in HMS BOXER and in HMS ALBION during the build and sea trials. Shore appointments included an MSc in Electrical Engineering, the Electrical Power Distribution and Propulsion Systems group in Bath, 5 years as Team Leader for the Minewarfare, Patrol and Hydrographic (MPH) platforms, Head of the Ship Support (Alliance) and staff training in Paris. He is now a Director with Juno Fleet Services Ltd, an independent consultancy for support, maintenance and engineering in the marine environment.
He lives in Gloucestershire with his wife Jane and their three children, Matthew, Mark and Sarah. Awarded the MBE in the New Year Honours List 2004, his main interests include the family, DIY, playing the sax, rugby (referee), Flying (PPL), vintage cars, French food and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
